Clearly I am a strong advocate for the right to bear arms. This does not mean that I do not believe in gun safety laws or keeping guns out of the hands of those who are not responsible with that privilege or worse, intentionally dangerous. Laws that insist that those who own guns keep their guns locked up and unloaded, are good laws. Laws that remove the right to own guns from those who have a track record of violent or unstable behavior, are good laws. Laws that make it clear that owning a gun is a privilege that must be respected for public safety are good laws.
Removing the right to own a gun from those groups which are a self-acknowledged threat to American freedoms; fascist groups like the Aryan Nation, and Neo Nazi groups, may go a long way to keeping American citizens safe and free. This may be why such groups would spread the panicked notion that the government is threatening the American citizen’s right to bear arms. It is anti-government militias who are up in arms about maintaining their right to bear arms after all. Perhaps the right of these seditious groups to own guns should be removed. Not all democrats have been snowed into believing there is no difference between gun safety laws and the disarming of citizens. We should be sure however, that our elected democratic officials can distinguish between gun safety and the disarming of responsible citizens. Responsible American citizens should maintain their right to bear arms. Fascists who pose threats of domestic terrorism should lose that right.
